The state of Illinois

NEW YORK

New York State Population, July 1, 2017, estimates 19,849,399. New York State is the fourth largest state in the United States of America in 2018

 

        FACTS:

  • The 641 mile transportation network known as the Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway is the longest toll road in the United States.

  • The Woodstock Music and Arts Fair was actually held in Bethel.

  • New York City has 722 miles of subway track.

  • The Genesee River is one of the few rivers in the world that flows south to north.

NEW JERSEY

It is the fourth smallest state. The population of New Jersey in 2017 was forecasted to be 8.98 Million

        FACTS:

  • New Jersey has the highest population density in the U.S. An average 1,030 people per sq. mi., which is 13 times the national average.

  • North Jersey is the car theft capital of the world, with more cars stolen in Newark then any other city. Even the 2 largest cities, NYC and LA put together..

  • New Jersey has the most diners in the world and is sometimes referred to as the diner capital of the world..

PENNSYLVANIA

The United States Census Bureau estimates that the population of Pennsylvania was 12,802,503 on July 1, 2015. Pennsylvania rebounded to become the nation’s fifth most populous state 

FACTS

  • In 1909 the first baseball stadium was built in Pittsburgh.

  • In 1913 the first automobile service station opened in Pittsburgh.

  • The first daily newspaper was published in Philadelphia on Sept. 21, 1784.

  • Philadelphia is home to the cheesesteak sandwich, water ice, soft pretzels, and TastyKakes.

VIRGINIA

Virginia grew by 5.1 percent, reaching an estimated 8.4 million residents on July 1, 2016.


        FACTS:

  • Virginia was named for England's "Virgin Queen," Elizabeth I.

  • The major cash crop of Virginia is tobacco and many of the people who live there earn their living from the tobacco industry.

  • Virginia is known as "the birthplace of a nation".

  • The states of Kentucky & West Virginia were formed from sections of the state of Virginia

  • The Maryland State House is the oldest state capitol still in continuous legislative use.
